Hydraulic jacks tilt the furnace when ever molten metal is ready. High pressure hydraulic pump is required for hydraulic jacks. Operator can tilt each furnace with the aid of lever-type switches in the control panel.
Different check lists are provided by manufacturer for operator to visit the hydraulic system periodically and make sure that there is no problem. In the event of power failure or any other interrupt, hydraulic pump stops working, and manual hydraulic pump can be used to tilt the furnace. Furnace discharge is possible by this manual system in emergency circumstances.
